Community Health Workers (CHW) Training Program
August, 2026--accepting applications on a rolling basis
CHW Training, federally funded by HRSA, is for students who have not yet completed a bachelor's degree. Participants join a group of peers working in a 1-year full-time or 2-year part-time paid work experience at a partnering behavioral health agency while training. Participants will work in underserved communities and receive a salary, education with free college credits, mentorship, professional development opportunities, career counseling, and a $6,000 stipend for living expenses (provided by William James College). This 10-session training program is designed for midwives, nurses, physicians, facility managers birth attendants, and frontline health workers delivering care in fragile, low-resource, and climate-affected settings. CPM Bridge Program starts in June
at Greenfield Community College — and there's funding.
Two scholarship pools have been secured and should enable full financial coverage for any practicing MA CPM who needs to complete the Bridge Certificate this spring to be eligible for licensure.
Courses are now fully MEAC-accredited and scheduled for late May and throughout June. Many are fully remote. Three courses have hands-on components, and all are offered through Greenfield Community College.
There are nine individual classes, ranging from 4-8 hours. The full schedule is on the website. If you are working towards your Bridge and you have already accumulated some of the CEUs needed, you can choose to take the individual classes that you still need. There are contact numbers for assistance and questions.
One scholarship fund is being offered directly through the College and a link to request support is on the program’s landing page. The other scholarship pool is being offered through the Community Birth Integration program and the MA Department of Public Health. To request support through the CBDI fund, please complete a request form AFTER reviewing which courses you intend to take and have determined the amount of funds you need.
You should only apply to ONE fund. The two funds will cross check applicant lists to maximize reach and coverage. Should one fund run out of money, while the other has money remaining, your application will be automatically transferred. Both funds are requesting applicants to submit a request for funds by May 15th.

Updates reflect the latest science on stabilization and early resuscitation—streamlining terminology, expanding ventilation guidance, and emphasizing physiologic cord management. All instructor-led courses must transition to 9th Edition content by June 1, 2026. We created a summary of all the changes for your convenience. New national data on relative rates of stillbirth by week of gestation age. Important to note this is a research letter, not a full study and there are several questions that still need to be examined about the data and analysis methods. However, given the significantly higher risk indicated as compared to previous understanding of risk after 41 weeks of GA, it felt important to share at this early stage of analysis. |
