About the Fund
The CARE Fund is a new initiative of MA-NACPM. It was created through a grant from the BEE Collaborative to support midwives when life’s unexpected challenges arise — providing short-term financial assistance for call coverage during illness, emergencies, or periods of rest and recovery. The CARE Fund helps sustain midwives — ensuring client care continues safely while they have the time and support to heal, recover, care for their families, or simply rest. |

Why It Matters
For most home-birth midwives, being “on call” never ends. Vacations, family events, and medical appointments are often missed because coverage is costly or unavailable. This continuous demand leads to burnout, isolation, and sometimes the difficult choice between self-care and client commitment. The CARE Fund aims to change that. By creating a safety net for midwives, we are building a culture that values rest as part of the work — recognizing that sustainable care begins with caregiver wellness. How It Works
Ways to Support
How to Help
Your donation directly impacts midwife sustainability. Every dollar contributes to a stronger, healthier community of caregivers — and by extension, to safer, more continuous care for families across the Commonwealth. |
Member Involvement The CARE Fund was built for midwives, by midwives — and its strength depends on all of us. Our initial seed funding came through a grant for the BEE Collaborative but that money alone won’t keep the fund sustainable. For the CARE Fund to grow and continue supporting midwives in moments of crisis or rest, we need every member to help nurture it. You can’t just use the CARE Fund — it only works if we all contribute to it. Every donation, fundraiser, and shared post helps ensure that this support will still be there when you or a colleague needs it most. VERY soon we will be releasing fundraising tools and shareable materials to make participation easy and collaborative, including:
When one midwife rests, we all rise. Together, we can keep the CARE Fund strong — because caregivers deserve care, too. |
