A Public Hearing will be held on April 23, 2026 by the Board of Registration in Midwifery (“Midwifery Board”), within the Department of Public Health for a new regulation 274 CMR 3.00: Licensed Certified Professional Midwife Licensure Requirements. The proposed regulation implements the requirements stated in M.G.L. c. 112, §§ 290-297 as inserted by section 38 of Chapter 186, of the Acts of 2024 An Act Promoting Access To Midwifery Care And Out-Of-Hospital Birth Options.

  • shaping systems
  • leading integration in real time
Clinical Director Position Open NOW!
We’re watching a system stretch itself to hold the midwifery model—while CPMs are being asked to help design what comes next.
And right in the middle of that shift:
Neighborhood Birth Center is hiring 2 Clinical Directors (1 CPM + 1 CNM) to launch a freestanding birth center. This isn’t a plug-and-play job.

Full-time | ~$150K + benefits
At the same time, MA is rolling out licensure with:
• real reimbursement pathways
• prescriptive authority access
• intentional integration across setting

If you’ve ever said:
“I want to practice differently… but the system doesn’t allow it”
Come help build the system that does.

Meet at the Massachusetts State House as midwifery students, CPM and CNM learn how policy decisions shape midwifery practice, reimbursement, workforce development, and access to community birth care.
Students will hear from leaders working within the maternal health system, meet briefly with legislators and staff. The intention is not traditional lobbying, but helping students understand the systems that will shape their future practice and professional opportunities.

NACPM Statement on Informed Choice: Midwifery’s Role in Emerging Public Health Questions

In recent months, questions have surfaced around issues such as the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine and use of acetaminophen during pregnancy. We understand how quickly such concerns can raise uncertainty for midwives and the families we serve. At NACPM, we believe the midwive's role is not to dictate choices, but to ensure that every client has access to clear, evidence-based information, supportive alternatives, and the space to make decisions aligned with their own values and circumstances.
